Have you heard Evert's story?

Originally from West Guinee, he arrived in the Cape and was sold into slavery by the Dutch East Indian Company to Jan van Riebeek.
Evert, later, became a free man!
In 1680, Evert started living on the premises on which the house and cellar were built which he got on a lease from the Dutch East Indian Company.
After many years, Eversdal was named after this “Vryburger”.
